Corixa is constantly building on its strong bank of journalist contacts in Bristol and beyond. We find that a great way of keeping in touch with the local media is through supporting Bristol-based charity initiatives. Earlier this year, we announced on our website that we were going to be supporting, through sponsorship in kind, a group of talented artists from CONTAINER, who would be showing their exciting and diverse work at the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery over the coming year. The empty plinth is now being used by the museum to unearth and showcase just some of the huge array of artistic talent which is rife within Bristol. Each of the six artists from CONTAINER are taking it in turn to show their carefully crafted installation, created specifically for this location, on display for two months at a time over a 12 month period. Securing both radio and print coverage to publicise the event, we’ve just launched the second of six exhibits which focus around one of the two plinths at the foot of the main stairs in the museum’s entrance, adjacent to Banksy’s angel sculpture. The works of art showcased have been designed to reflect different subjects, with some connecting with or reacting to other works in the museum. The line-up of artists from CONTAINER exhibiting their work during the course of the year includes Ben Rowe, Ian Penna, Ellen Bell, Andrew Southall, Robert Manners and Irena Czapska. To see Ian Penna’s latest installation, pop along to the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, where you can view his work until early July. For further information, visit http://www.containerarts.org/plinth/ If you’re interested in coming along to one of the exclusive showings which take place every other month at the Museum, contact Rhiannon Winfield at Corixa Communications at Rhiannon.winfield@corixa.co.uk and she will notify you of the next opening night.
